Did you get your unemployment claims last year?

Every end of the year, RGIS and all RGIS hourly employees are fully aware that at the onset of November until the 3rd week of December, inventories begin to decline. That means no work schedule. And that means no money in your pocket for the holiday season.

Many of hourly employees have to look for another job or another means to augment these slow times. Most of us apply for holiday jobs, some of us may quit from RGIS, some of us just contented with being a couch potato, waiting from the RGIS scheduler to call for work. However, some hourly employees make a smart decision: file an unemployment claim.

Most hourly employees are unaware or shall I say, not fully informed about whether or not such situation qualify us to file unemployment benefits. (Disclaimer: I am only opining based on the existing unemployment laws in the State of Washington that are applicable in this scenario. If you live in a state other than mine, you might want to inquire from your own State's Social Services for more information. Or if you happened to know a lawyer friend who has some knowledge about unemployment laws in your State, you may seek legal advice).

In reality, RGIS hourly employees MAY be qualified to file unemployment claims. Several years now, my friends have been telling me that they file unemployment claims every end of the year. In fact, 3 of my close friends in my D411 District have filed for unemployment claims and they have received checks from the time they have been approved until the last week of December last year! They claimed to have received between 200.00 to 350.00 per week within that 6-week duration period of "unemployment"!

How did they do it? I made a personal inquiry. Here's how: The easiest way to file your claim is through ONLINE. That means, you don't have to fall in line at your local state office and spare yourself from other troubles. So we'll just do it in the comfort of our rooms.

FYI, every claim is fought by rgis, no matter how small. If you're willing to go before a judge and lie that you were promised full time work, more power to you.

It is stated to all new employees that this is ALL part time work and that there are ups and downs in how many hours you will get each week/month.

You do not need to lie when you go before a judge. In fact you are not suppose to lie in the first place.

I believe every RGIS hourly employee are aware that jobs being offered to them are essentially part-time whether or not you work 2 hours a day or 50 hours a week.

In the State of Washington, when an applicant filing for unemployment asks, "Can I collect unemployment benefits if I work part-time?" The resounding answer is YES!

The law says, if you work part-time, there is a slight reduction on benefits using the earnings deduction chart (gross earnings minus $5 times 75 percent). I hope that clarifies anonymous' claims.

unemployment claims differ from state to state. NY unemployment claims differ from Florida. I should know because about 6 years ago, I used to lived in Florida. Now that I am here in NY, unemployment claims are slightly different.
